Learn MoreWhat the roof check finds in Yorba Linda
Many homes here are on larger lots, and newer custom and tract houses climb the eastern hills, in areas like Bryant Ranch and Black Gold. A hillside chimney next to wildland has ember exposure that a flat-lot one does not, so that shapes the visit. Part of eastern Yorba Linda is mapped at Very High Fire Hazard, and Santa Anas are the reason. Shaking from Chino Hills reached here strongly in 2008, and the November to March rain finds any crack.
The Houses
On our Yorba Linda visits: larger-lot detached homes, eastern hillside tracts and custom houses, ember-exposed lots near wildland.
On the Roof
Ember screen and fine mesh on hillside homes, chase or crown, flashing, and fasteners for Santa Ana gusts.
Which Metal
Stainless with fine mesh is the answer in the eastern hills, where embers count for far more than any salt.
