About the area
canyon and flatland neighborhood just north of Santa Monica
The Getty Fire in October 2019 started beside the 405 and burned into the Brentwood hills. Canyon lots here see dry fall wind and less salt than the beach, so the roof check leans toward the spark arrestor, the crown, and the flashing where a re-roof may have left a gap.
Neighborhood coverage
We work this whole city even on blocks we have not written up yet. Use the neighborhood list below, or call and we will place your address on the route.
Brentwood is a short drive up San Vicente from Santa Monica, and its houses often have two or three fireplaces. We look at every flue on the roof, not only the one the family lights, and the rust note lists each cap on its own line so you can see which one is going first. That reality shapes every fireplace inserts visit we run here - what gets loaded on the truck, how much time gets blocked off, and what the follow-up recommendation looks like.
traditional and Spanish Colonial houses south of Sunset, ranch houses in Crestwood Hills, and larger homes up Mandeville Canyon with more than one flue Each of those construction styles carries its own flue length, masonry makeup, and clearance quirks, so the visit gets built around the actual house instead of a routine that assumes every chimney is the same.
Fireplace Inserts runs across Brentwood and the neighboring communities of Brentwood Glen, Brentwood Park, and Crestwood Hills, with ZIP codes 90049 all inside the coverage area. Call or send the online form and we will confirm your address.

our home city on the bay
Santa Monica is where Bayside works from, so visits here are the easiest to fit in. Close to the beach, the cap and the chase cover come first, because salt carried in on the onshore breeze settles on the top of the chimney every day. North of Montana and up toward Sunset Park, more of the visit goes into older brick and the flue.

The Palisades Fire in January 2025 burned through much of Pacific Palisades, and a large part of the neighborhood is being rebuilt. A new house often has a factory-built fireplace or a gas unit with a metal flue, while a house that survived may have a chimney that sat through the heat and smoke. We inspect both kinds, and on a rebuild we check the cap, chase cover and termination before the roofing closes in around them.

Malibu is the longest drive on our schedule, so we group visits by stretch of coast and fill the day. A beach house on PCH gets the hardest salt exposure we see, and its cap, chase cover and flashing are checked first and photographed up close. Up the canyons, the same visit gives more time to the spark arrestor.

West Hollywood has many older apartment buildings where several units share one chimney stack. On those roofs we check each flue and note which unit it serves, so the owner gets one report with every fireplace on it. In a bungalow the visit is shorter: cap, crown, flashing, then the sweep.

Beverly Hills homes often have more chimneys than the household uses, and the ones nobody lights get the least attention. We check every stack from the roof, then sweep and inspect the fireplaces in use. The rust note lists each cap and chase cover by where it sits on the roof, so a contractor or house manager can find it.
